Agriscience
•On Tuesday, September 21, Lapeer Ed Tech welcomed a group of agricultural businessmen and women from Egypt. At just one of many stops on their fourteen-day journey through the United States, they visited the agriscience classroom, greenhouse, and barn for the chance to learn the difference between the agricultural systems in Egypt as compared to here in the United States. With the help of funding from the USAID (United States Agency for International Development), they came with a purpose to benefit. When asked point blank, “Why are you here?” one responded, “We heard [the students are] doing excellent work here and we want to benefit from your experience.” They wanted to understand what type of training and skills students receive here and to learn the communication between business and school.
•Agriculture is Michigan’s second largest industry and a vital part of local communities. NBC25 went to the Farmology event in Lapeer to learn how important it is to support local farmers. To view video, click here.
•Our own Agriscience instructor Mrs. Tammy Hyatt has been recognized for the Outstanding Service Award, presented to her by the Michigan Association of Agriscience Educators. The MAAE is a professional organization for agriscience educators in Michigan. Congratulations, Mrs. Hyatt! More
